Important note 2: Want retake E-1 or E-2? Please do the required remediation sheet (E-01-17 remh/E-02-13 empp/E-02-13 apt), check it with me, and sign up for a time to retake it (You may do that any time, one time per test this semester, whenever you are truly ready!)!
Here is what we are doing in Honors Chemistry this week:
Monday, October 23rd – Happy Mole Day (https://ed.ted.com/lessons/daniel-dulek-how-big-is-a-mole-not-the-animal-the-other-one)! Discuss what is meant by a direct and by an inverse relationship. Obtain an E-10 Beverage Density calibration curve for 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% sugar solutions for your group and fill in the masses and densities for the 5 % sugar solutions in the Data Table in your Workbook (E-10-14 lsh). Learn how to use a pipette. After visiting the practice station, obtain the masses and densities for each of the five beverages and fill in the Data Table in your Workbook (Make sure to record them in the correct box on your data table.). Once everyone is finished in the lab, learn how to use colored pencils and rulers to estimate the % sugar of each of the 5 beverages and write the % sugars in your Data Table in your Workbook. Homework: Complete the E-11 Boyle’s Law Prelab (GUIDELINESFORLABREPORT-08/E-11-14 lsh)(due Tues). Complete the 1st Quarter Review through E-10 (1st Q RS)(due Wed).
Tuesday, October 24th – Meet in B-327. Sit with partner(s) at a computer with syringe attached. Log into the computer and go to Google Classroom. Then, 1: Click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen and open the E-11 Boyle’s Law Data Studio document in new window from Google Classroom. 2: Download the Data Studio document. 3. Double click on the Data Studio document to open it. 4. Follow the E-11 Boyle’s Law Lab Sheet instructions (E-11-14 lsh)(Make sure to do three trials and record your results in your Science Notebook.). IF time, make an Google Sheets graph with your group using these instructions (E-11-17 gi KA), print it, and turn it in (ONE per group). If there is not time, it is individual homework (due no later than next Mon). Homework: Complete the 1st Quarter Review through E-10 (due Wed).
Wednesday, October 25th – Stamp the E-11 Prelabs. Stamp and check the 1st Quarter Review through E-10. Finish marking the 5 beverages on your E-10 calibration curve and writing the % sugars in the E-10 Data Table in your Workbook. Turn in the E-10 Calibration curve. Homework: Review E-1 through 10 and STUDY for the Midpoint Growth Assessment.
Thursday, October 26th – Take the Mid Point Growth Assessment over E-1to 10. Did you finish marking the 5 beverages on your E-10 calibration curve and writing the % sugars in the E-10 Data Table in your Workbook? Did you turn in the E-10 calibration curve? Complete and turn in the E-11 Conclusion and Mind Prober on the back of your group’s graph (If graph is not yet printed, do it on a separate sheet to staple together no later than next Mon). 3:30 – 7 pm Parent Teacher Conferences.
