 Monday, February 18th – NO SCHOOL. Presidents’ Day.

Tuesday, February 19th – Discuss E-27 Atomic Structure I Test results and make corrections – complete the E-27 Remediation Sheet if less than 70% (or wanting a retake!)(E-27 rem)(due BY FRIDAY!). Watch TED ED Talk: the Smallest Thing in the Universe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehHoOYqAT_U). Introduce E-28 Oxidation Numbers (E-28-19 ssr (short)). Use the E-28 Study Hints (E-28-19 SHr) to complete E-28 Worksheet Page #1 (E-28-19 wkstr) and Ion Bingo Sheet (E-28-08 ibc). Are you done with your E-26 History of the Atom Crossword (e-26-13 crossword) through Crossword Hint #3? If not, scroll back through the blog for those hints! Don’t forget to be using the Word Bank … e-26-19 word bankr. Homework: STUDY for Friday’s E-27 Test retake (e-27-19 ssr/e-27-19 mppr/e-27-19 emppr/e-27 fswr/E-27-19 ptr), if required (or choosing to take)!

Thursday, February 21st – Refer to yesterday’s post for Crossword Hint #4. Introduce E-29 Inorganic Nomenclature with examples from the even Practice Problems (Naming ONLY)(E-29-19 ssr/E-29-19 PP). Complete and check the odd Practice Problems (Naming ONLY). Homework: STUDY for Friday’s E-27 Test retake, if required (or choosing to take)!

 Friday, February 22nd – Introduce E-29 Inorganic Nomenclature with examples from the even Practice Problems (Formula Writing). Complete and check the odd Practice Problems (Formula Writing)(Binder check next MONDAY!). Check and turn in E-27 Remediation Sheet, if required (or chose to do)! Retake E-27 Test, if needed.  Monday, February 11th – Check your grade for missing work and see me TODAY! Complete the E-27 Atomic Structure I Practice Test in Google Classroom – show me when it is complete (e-27-19 ssr/e-27-19 mppr/e-27-19 emppr/e-27 fswr/e-27-16 pc/e-27-16 mac/E-27 sa1r (KA)/E-27 sa2r (KA))! THEN, begin the E-27 Practice Test (E-27-19 ptr). 

Tuesday, February 12th – Complete, check, and turn in the E-27 Practice Test. Complete and turn in E-27 Formative #2 in Google Classroom (REQUIRED if you got less than a 9/12 on Formative #1, OPTIONAL if you did!). Are you done with your E-26 History of the Atom Crossword through Crossword Hint #3 (e-26-13 crossword/e-26-19 word bankr)? If not, scroll back through the blog for those hints!

Wednesday, February 13th – Play the Atom Building Game (Goal=6 rounds)! Are you done with your E-26 History of the Atom Crossword through Crossword Hint #3? If not, scroll back through the blog for those hints!

 Monday, February 4th – Video clip: WKRP Atom (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhbqIJZ8wCM).  Introduce the E-27 Atomic Structure I chart calculations for atoms using the Study Sheet (e-27-19 ssr) and Powerpoint (e-27-16 pc/e-27-16 mac). Assignment: complete E-27 Study Sheet Practice Problems #1-3 (You may try #4 if you finish early.). E-27 Terms flashcard check. Crossword Hint #2 … Turn to pages 128-129 in the black Chemistry textbook; use these two pages to solve ACROSS – 21, 23, 31, 33, 48 /DOWN – 1, 11, 24 about the electromagnetic spectrum (e-26-13 crossword/e-26-19 word bankr). 

Tuesday, February 5th – Did you show me your E-27 Terms flashcards yesterday? Introduce the E-27 chart calculations for ions using the Study Sheet and Powerpoint. Assignment: complete and check E-27 Study Sheet Practice Problems #1-4. If time, try 5-8 for bonus challenge points! Complete Atom Model Station Activity #1 (Atoms)(E-27 sa1r (KA)– turn in if finished! Refer to yesterday’s post for Crossword Hint #2.

Wednesday, February 6th – E-27 Study Sheet Practice Problems #1-4 check. Did you complete, check, and turn in Atom Model Station Activity #1 (Atoms) – if not, do it TODAY and turn it in! Complete and check the E-27 More Practice Problems with your shoulder partner (e-27-19 mppr). Refer to Monday’s post for Crossword Hint #2. 

Thursday, February 7th – Complete, check, and turn in the E-27 Even More Practice Problems with your shoulder partner (e-27-19 emppr). Complete and turn in Atom Model Station Activity #2 (Ions)(E-27 sa2r (KA)). Crossword Hint #3 … The following clues are about the parts of the atom ACROSS – 12, 17, 30, 35 /DOWN – 15, 26, 40, 45.

 Friday, February 8th – Play the E-27 Kahoot! Complete, check, and turn in the E-27 Find Someone Who (e-27 fswr). Complete and turn in E-27 Formative #1 in Google Classroom.  Refer to yesterday’s post for Crossword Hint #3.

Monday, January 21st – NO SCHOOL. MLK Day!

Tuesday, January 22nd – New seats! Introduce blog  (https://mhskanderson.wordpress.com/category/regular-chemistry/). Take 2nd Semester Growth Pretest. Read the E-25 Electrostatics Lab (e-25-19 ls new) and complete the Prelab Quiz in Google Classroom TODAY (Only your first score counts, but you MUST retake it until you score at least 7/10!)!

Wednesday, January 23rd – SNOW DAY.

Thursday, January 24th – Do the E-25 Lab with shoulder partner and fill out the “Observations” column ONLY on your lab Worksheet. Then, compare results at your table. Then, discuss results as a class and fill out the “Explanation” column on your Lab Worksheet. Turn in your E-25 Lab Worksheet at the end of class.

Friday, January 25th – SNOW DAY.

 Saturday, January 26th – Celebrate Mrs. Anderson’s 50th birthday by making a card … LOL. Just kidding …

Monday, January 28th – Sophomore scheduling. Watch The World of Chemistry: Episode #6: The Atom https://www.learner.org/resources/series61.html# and take 10 good notes on what you learned! Begin the E-26 History of the Atom Crossword (e-26-13 crossword). Here is a Word Bank for you (e-26-19 word bankr)! Crossword Hint #1 … Look on your Word Bank for scientists’ names (i.e. CAPITALIZED words) and match them with the following clues ACROSS – 2, 16, 25, 27, 37, 41 /DOWN – 4, 14, 22, 39, 42. 

Tuesday, January 29th – If you missed Monday because of scheduling, please make sure to get the E-26 Crossword (e-26-13 crossword). Here is a Word Bank for you (e-26-19 word bankr)! Crossword Hint #1 … Look on your Word Bank for scientists’ names (i.e. CAPITALIZED words) and match them with the following clues ACROSS – 2, 16, 25, 27, 37, 41 /DOWN – 4, 14, 22, 39, 42. Complete and turn in the E-25 Lab Worksheet Questions and Mind Prober with your shoulder partner (e-25-19 wksht new).

Friday, February 1st – Flame Test demo. Introduce the E-27 Atomic Structure I terms using the study sheet (e-27-19 ssr) and PowerPoint (e-27-16 pc/e-27-16 mac). Assignment: make flashcards for the twelve E-27 terms in Learning Target #1; they may be paper flashcards OR a Quizlet (https://quizlet.com/?scrlybrkr=cd25d599)(due Mon). Refer to Tuesday’s post for Crossword Hint #1.

Thinking about summer? Here are some science related opportunities … WIU Summer Camps (WIU Summer Camps 2019) and US Army Outreach STEP Apprenticeships (US Army Outreach STEM Apprenticeships).

Another note: You may still turn in late/missing work! You may still retake a test! Here are the essential skill E-1, 2, 14, and 16 remediation sheets … E-01 remr , E-02-13 apt and/or E-02-13 empp, E-14-16 ssr (do the “even letters” i.e. b, d, f etc.), E-16 MaM and, E-20-14 rem.

In addition to the essential skill review you were required to do for the 1st Semester Growth Exam, you could look over these questions to review for the final. In Regular Chemistry, we covered E-1-3, 7-9, 14-16, 19, and 20 (1st q rs/2nd q rs).

Here is what we are doing in Regular Chemistry the next two weeks and two days:

Thursday, January 3rd – READ the E-23 Double Replacement Lab Sheet (E-23-15 ls), then, go into Google Classroom and complete the Prelab Quiz. Review E-16 Moles (E-16-16 ssr). Discuss and complete E-23 Prelab Question 1. If time, discuss and complete E-23 Prelab Questions 2 and 3.

Friday, January 4th – Complete the E-23 Lab Day 1 and turn in ONE Data Table per group on the Lab Worksheet (E-23-13 wksht).

Monday, January 7th –  Complete, check, and turn in the 1st Semester Review Sheet E-1, 2 and E-14 questions with partner (1st Semester Growth Assessment Review).

Tuesday, January 8th – Complete, check, and turn in the 1st Semester Review Sheet E-16 and E-20 questions with partner. If time, complete the E-23 Lab Day 2 and turn in ONE Data Table per group on the Lab Worksheet.

Wednesday, January 9th – Take the 1st Semester Growth Post Test (Over E-1 Metric System, E-2 Significant Figures, E-14 Molar Mass, E-16 Molar Mass, and E-20 Balancing Equations.)(E-01-16 ssr/E-02-16 ssr/E-14-16 ssr/E-16-16 ssr/E-20-16 ssr). 

Thursday, January 10th – Complete the E-23 Lab Day 2 and turn in ONE Data Table per group on the Lab Worksheet. If you did E-23 Lab Day 2 on Tuesday, complete the E-23 Lab Day 3 and turn in ONE Data Table per group on the Lab Worksheet.

Friday, January 11th – Complete the E-23 Lab Day 3 and submit ONE Data Table per group on the Lab Worksheet. Complete the E-23 Lab Analysis Table and submit ONE per group on the Lab Worksheet.

Monday, January 15th – Complete the E-23 Lab Questions and submit ONE per group on the Lab Worksheet.

Tuesday, January 16th – Retake Day E-16 Moles Test OR for E-20 Balancing Equations Test.

Wednesday, January 17th – Final Exams.

Thursday, January 19th – Final Exams.

Friday, January 18th – Final Exams.

Tuesday, December 18th – READ the E-4 Using the Bunsen Burner Lab Sheet (E-04-15 ls), then, go into Google Classroom and complete the Prelab Quiz. Then, draw and label the SIX parts on the bunsen burner as directed in Data Table #1 and show me TODAY! You may use these three pictures to assist you … Bunsen Burner 1, Bunsen Burner 2, and Bunsen Burner 3.

Wednesday, December 19th – Do the E-4 Using the Bunsen Burner Lab and discuss results. Complete the questions on your study sheet but DO NOT turn them in today.

Monday, December 3rd – Continue the E-20 Practice Problems from the E-20 Study Sheet. Turn in if finished! Complete the E-19 Day 2 Prelab Questions and turn in (E-19-18 Day 2 pr). Do E-19 Lab Day 2 and complete Data Table lines 7 – 11. Get Day 2 Data checked, copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet, and turned in TODAY! Discuss questions 4-7 in Workbook as a class and jot notes in Workbook.

Tuesday, December 4th – Finish the E-20 Practice Problems from the E-20 Study Sheet and turn it in TODAY! Do E-19 Lab Day 3 and complete Data Table lines 12 – 14. Begin the E-20 Balancing Equations Practice Test A with partner (E-20-08 ptar). Turn in if you finish!

Wednesday, December 5th – E-20 Balancing Equations More Practice Problems examples – 2, 4, and 6. Get the Day 3 Data copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet and turned in for checking TODAY! Finish and turn in the E-20 Balancing Equations Practice Test A with partner. Begin the E-20 Even More Problems odds (E-20-13 mpr).
