Regular Chemistry … November 26th – December 7th

Monday, November 26th – Go over E-20 Balancing Equations. Begin the E-20 Practice Problems from the E-20 Study Sheet (E-20-16 ssr). Did you finish the E-20 Balancing Chemical Equations Worksheet (E-20 BCE)? If so, turn it in! Finish early? Tuesday, November 27th – Go into Google Classroom and complete the E-19 Single Replacement Prelab Quiz. Finish the E-20 Practice Problems from the E-20 Study Sheet. Did you finish the E-20 Balancing Chemical Equations Worksheet? If so, turn it in! Finish early? Try these interactive equations … https://education.jlab.org/elementbalancing/index.html .

Wednesday, November 28th – Go over E-20 Balancing Equations. Begin the E-20 Balancing Equations More Practice Problems (E-20-13 mpr). Finish early? Click on one of the links posted for Monday or Tuesday.

Thursday, November 29th – Do E-19 Lab Day 1 and complete Data Table lines 1- 6. Get Day 1 Data checked, copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet, and turned in TODAY (E-19-18 wksht)! Finish the E-20 Balancing Equations More Practice Problems.

Friday, November 30th – Complete the E-19 Day 2 Prelab Questions and turn in (E-19-18 Day 2 pr). Do E-19 Lab Day 2 and complete Data Table lines 7 – 11. Get Day 2 Data checked, copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet, and turned in TODAY! Discuss questions 4-7 in Workbook as a class and jot notes in Workbook.

Monday, December 3rd – Do E-19 Lab Day 3 and complete Data Table lines 12 – 14. Get the Day 3 Data copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet and turned in for checking TODAY! Binder check: E-20 Practice Problems and More Practice Problems. Complete, check, and turn in the E-20 Balancing Equations Practice Test A with partner (E-20-08 ptar).

Tuesday, December 4th – Take the E-20 Test. 

Wednesday, December 5th – Complete the group E-19 Lab Worksheet Page 1 today (i.e. Calculations 1 and 2 and E-19 Question 3)! If time, begin the Questions Part 1.

Thursday, December 6th – SHARE JOYS.

Friday, December 7th – SHARE JOYS.

Here is what we are doing in Regular Chemistry the next two weeks:

Monday, November 5th – Begin the E-16 Moles Notes on the Moles Note Sheet (one step problems)(E-16 Note Sheet r). If stuck, please read the E-16 Moles Study Sheet and look at the examples (E-16-16 ssr). Begin the E-16 Small Magic Square by doing problems 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, and 3c (E-16 smsr)(Make SURE to SHOW YOUR WORK on the back!).

 Tuesday, November 6th – Continue the E-16 Notes on the Note Sheet (two step problems). Finish, check, and turn in the E-16 Small Magic Square by doing problems 5a, 5c, and 6a (Make SURE to SHOW YOUR WORK on the back!)Begin the E-16 Activity What’s a Pirate’s Favorite Element (E-16 wapfer)?

Wednesday, November 7th – Have you turned in the E-16 Small Magic Square? Finish, check, and turn in the E-16 Activity What’s a Pirate’s Favorite Element? Complete, check, and turn in the E-16 Activity What Do You Call a Chemistry Teacher’s Joke About Cobalt, Radon, and Yttrium (E-16 wdycactjacryr)?

Thursday, November 8th – Complete, check, and turn in the E-16 Activity What Do You Do With a Dead Chemist (E-16 wdydwadcr)? Begin the E-16 the Moles Station Activity (E-16 SA).

Friday, November 9th – Have you turned in the 3 E-16 Puzzles (i.e. Pirate? Joke? and Dead Chemist?)? Complete, check, and turn in the E-16 Moles Station Activity. OPTIONAL: May take E-16 Test today!

Monday, November 12th – NO SCHOOL. VETERAN’S DAY.

Tuesday, November 13th – Review E-16 with Gallimaufry Problems 1, 4, and 11. Go into Google Classroom and complete E-16 “Pop Quiz A.” Begin and turn in the E-16 Practice Test with partner (E-16-18 ptr). If you took the E-16 Test on Friday, begin working on the E-20 Balancing Chemical Equations worksheet (E-20 BCE).

Wednesday, November 14th – Here is a quick E-16 Moles review video http://safeyoutube.net/w/yEgf?scrlybrkr=7ef49993 . Complete, check, and turn in the E-16 Practice Test with partner. If you took the E-16 Test on Friday, continue working on the E-20 Balancing Chemical Equations worksheet. 

Thursday, November 15th – Take the E-16 Moles Test. If you took the E-16 Test on Friday, check and turn in the E-20 Balancing Chemical Equations worksheet (See me if you do!). 

Friday, November 16th – Discuss how to balance a chemical equation. Work on the E-20 Balancing Chemical Equations worksheet if you haven’t already; Check it and turn in if you finish.

Monday, October 29th – See me TODAY if you want to retake E-7 Physical and Chemical Changes (E-07-16 ssr/E-02-17 ptr/E-07-17 pt2r/E-07 mppr/E-07 pcchngwkstr) or E-14 Molar Mass (E-14-16 ssr/E-14 GFM/E-14-18 pr/Periodic Table)! Discuss the E-15 Equal Volumes Lab setup. READ the E-15 Study Sheet and complete the E-15 Prelab Quiz in Classroom TODAY (Only the first score will count, but if you get less than an 11/15, you must REATKE TODAY!)(E-15-18 lsr).

Tuesday, October 30th – Complete the E-15 Lab (STOP after Part A and show me your data before proceeding to Part B!).

Wednesday, October 31st – HALF DAY. Complete and turn in the E-15 Data and Calculations on the Lab Worksheet (E-15-18 wkshtr).

Thursday, November 1st – Complete and turn in the E-15 Analysis on the Lab Worksheet. If time, watch 1st half of Annenburg Phases of Matter and Properties of Gases video: http://www.learner.org/courses/chemistry/video/unit2video.html  .

Friday, November 2nd – Complete and turn in the E-15 Questions, Conclusion, and Mind Prober on the Lab Worksheet. If time, watch 2nd half of Annenburg Phases of Matter and Properties of Gases video: http://www.learner.org/courses/chemistry/video/unit2video.html  .

Complete the E-14 Bonus Practice Problem 4 (This Test will have a bonus section!)! Not happy with your E-7 Physical and Chemical Change Test Score? READ and STUDY again – you may retake it in class SOON (E-07-16 ssr/E-07-17 ptr/E-07-17 pt2r/E-07 mppr/E-07 pcchngwkstr)!

Tuesday, October 23rd – New seats! Happy Mole Day (https://ed.ted.com/lessons/daniel-dulek-how-big-is-a-mole-not-the-animal-the-other-one)! Finish the E-14 Practice Problems 1-3. Go into Google Classroom and complete the E-14 Formative Assessment using your completed Practice Problems. Finish early? Complete the E-14 Bonus Practice Problem 4 (This Test will have a bonus section!)! Not happy with your E-7 Test Score? READ and STUDY again – you may retake it in class SOON! 

Wednesday, October 24th – More E-14 Molar Mass Notes. If you didn’t yesterday, go into Google Classroom and complete the E-14 Formative Assessment using your completed Practice Problems. Binder check and check E-14 Practice Problems. Begin the Activity Gram Formula Mass with a partner and turn in (E-14 GFM). Finish early? Complete the E-14 Bonus Practice Problem 4 (This Test will have a bonus section!)! Not happy with your E-7 Test Score? READ and STUDY again – you may retake it in class SOON!

Thursday, October 25th – Complete the Activity Gram Formula Mass with a partner, check, and turn in. Take the E-14 Test. Parent Teacher Conferences 3:30 – 7 pm.

Friday, October 26th – NO SCHOOL. Parent Teacher Conferences 8:30 am – Noon.

Here is what we are doing in Regular Chemistry the this week:

Monday, October 8th – Read E-8 Heats of Solidification & Combustion Lab and take E-8 Prelab Quiz in Google Classroom (E-08-18 lsr). If you were NOT proficient on E-2, go into Classroom and complete and check the remediation sheet today (E-2 Significant Figures Poster KA/E-02-16 ssr/E-02-13 apt). Then, read the E-7 Physical and Chemical Changes Study Sheet and begin the Practice Problems (E-07-16 ssr).

Tuesday, October 9th – Take the E-2 Test retake (REQUIRED if you score less than a 70% on the E-2 Test or have not taken it yet; OPTIONAL if you scored between 70-99% and would like to try to get a better score.). Then, read the E-7 Study Sheet and continue the Practice Problems.

Wednesday, October 10th – HALF DAY. Finish and turn in the activity E-9 Density of Liquids. Then, read the E-7 Study Sheet and continue the Practice Problems.

Thursday, October 11th – Complete EITHER Day 1 or Day 2 of the E-8 Lab with your face partner and exchange Data with the other group at your table.  Check the E-8 Day 1 and 2 Data Tables and submit them on ONE E-8 Lab Worksheet with your shoulder partner (Make sure to check your significant figures and labels  (E-08-18 wkshtr).

Friday, October 12th – With your shoulder partner or group of three, complete E-7 Practice Test 1 AND 2 on a sheet of paper and turn in (E-07-17 ptr/E-07-17 pt2r). Have you finished ALL of the E-7 Study Sheet Practice Problems?

Thursday, October 4th – Check and turn in the E-2 Practice Test with partner. Take the E-2 Test in Google Classroom. Continue and turn in the activity E-9 Density of Liquids. 

Friday, October 5th – Go over commonly missed questions on E-2 Test. Continue and turn in the activity E-9 Density of Liquids. If you were NOT proficient on E-2, go into Classroom and begin the remediation sheet today (E-02-13 apt). If you were, read E-8 Heats of Solidification & Combustion Lab (E-08-18 lsr).
