Honors Chemistry … December 11th – 20th

Hello, students!

Want retake E-1 or E-2 or 14 or 16? Please do the required remediation sheet (E-01-17 remh/E-02-13 empp/E-02-13 apt/E-14 pirate/e-16 wapfeh/e-16 wdycactjacryh), check it with me, and sign up for a time to retake it (You may do that any time, one time per test this semester, whenever you are truly ready!)! 

Want some extra credit? Do some E-17 Ideal Gas Law Problems, see me to check them, and take the E-17 Test before or after school, during your study hall, or during your lunch BEFORE Winter Break (E-17 extra EC/E-17 ssh)!

We will have a 1st Semester Growth Test on Friday, January 5th!!! To review, please look over your completed 1st Quarter Review (1st Q RS) and complete your 2nd Quarter Review (2nd Q RS)!!!

Tuesday, November 28th – Take the E-16 Moles Test. Begin E-18 Molarity Notes on Note Sheet if time (Basic Molarity Formula)(E-18-17 ssh/E-18 Note Sheet (new)). Homework: Complete the odd E-18 Basic Molarity Formula Practice Problems 1-9 and fill out first half of E-18 Small Magic Square (E-18-17 sms)(due Wed). Continue the E-19 Prelab (NOT E-17!)(due Thurs). 

Wednesday, November 29th – Finish the E-18 Notes on the Note Sheet (Dilution Formula). Homework: Complete the odd E-18 Dilution Formula Practice Problems 11-17 and fill out the second half of the E-18 Small Magic Square (due Thurs). Finish the E-19 Prelab (NOT E-17!)(due Thurs). 

Thursday, November 30th – Stamp the E-19 Prelab. Do E-19 Lab Day 1 and complete Data Table lines 1- 6. Get Day 1 Data checked, copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet, and turned in TODAY (E-19-12 wksht)! Homework: Begin the E-18 Dark Magic Square (E-18-16 dmsh)(due next Tues). 

Friday, December 1st – Discuss E-19 Questions 1-3 in Workbook in groups and jot notes. Do E-19 Lab Day 2 and complete Data Table lines 7 – 11. Get Day 2 Data checked, copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet, and turned in TODAY! Discuss questions 4-7 in Workbook as a class and jot notes in Workbook. Homework: Continue the E-18 Dark Magic Square (due next Tues). 

Monday, December 4th – Do E-19 Lab Day 3 and complete Data Table lines 12 – 14. Get the Day 3 Data copied onto the group E-19 Lab Worksheet and turned in for checking TODAY (E-19-12 wksht)! If your E-18 Magic and Dark Magic Squares are finished, show them to me today! If not, finish them! Homework: Finish the E-18 Dark Magic Square (due Tues). Begin the E-23 Double Replacement Reaction Prelab INCLUDING Prelab Questions 1 and 2 (E-23-15 lsh)(NOT E-21!)(due next Tues).

Monday, November 13th – Check the E-14 Molar Mass Practice Problems with a Google Quiz (E-14-17 ssh/Periodic Table). Discuss the E-15 Equal Volumes Lab Data, complete the Calculations, and submit one clean copy per group on the Lab Worksheet for grading (E-15-14 lsh/E-15-16 wksht). Discuss calibration curves and examine a calibration curve for radiocarbon dating. Did you complete and turn in the E-11 Conclusion and Mind Prober on the back of your group’s graph (E-11-14 lsh/E-11-17 gi KA)? Use black textbook Chapter 13 to complete the 13-1to3 Review and Reinforcement Worksheets (13-1to3 R+R Wksht)(due Tues). Homework: Complete the E-12 Charles’ Law Lab (E-12-17 lsh KA)(due no later than next Mon).

Tuesday, October 31st – Check and turn in the 13-1to3 Review and Reinforcement Worksheets. Begin E-13 Gas Laws Notes (Conversions/Boyle’s Law/Charles’ Law/Gay Lussack’s Law) and take notes on E-13 Gas Laws Note Sheet (E-13-14 ssh/E-13 Note Sheet/CONVERSION FACTORS). Homework:  Complete the odds from the Conversions/Boyle’s Law/Charles’ Law/Gay Lussack’s Law Practice Problems sections (due Wed). Complete the E-12 Lab (due no later than next Mon).

Wednesday, November 1st – HALF DAY. Finish the E-13 Notes (Combined/Dalton’s Law) and take notes on E-13 Note Sheet. Homework:  Complete the odds from the Combined/Dalton’s Law Practice Problems sections (due Thurs). Complete the E-12 Lab (due no later than next Mon).

Thursday, November 2nd – Begin and turn in the E-13 Magic Square with partner (E-13 MS). Homework:  Complete the E-12 Lab (due no later than next Mon). Complete the E-15 Equal Volumes Prelab (E-15-14 lsh)(due next Tues).

Friday, November 3rd – Finish, check, and turn in the E-13 Magic Square with partner.  If done, stamp and check all Gas Laws Practice Problems.  Homework: Complete the E-12 Lab (due no later than next Mon). Need more practice with E-13 – do some of the even Practice Problems – the E-13 Test will be next Tuesday! Complete the E-15 Prelab (due next Tues).

Honors Chemistry … October 23rd – 27th

Here is what we are doing in Honors Chemistry this week:

Monday, October 23rd – Happy Mole Day (https://ed.ted.com/lessons/daniel-dulek-how-big-is-a-mole-not-the-animal-the-other-one)! Discuss what is meant by a direct and by an inverse relationship. Obtain an E-10 Beverage Density calibration curve for 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% sugar solutions for your group and fill in the masses and densities for the 5 % sugar solutions in the Data Table in your Workbook (E-10-14 lsh). Learn how to use a pipette. After visiting the practice station, obtain the masses and densities for each of the five beverages and fill in the Data Table in your Workbook (Make sure to record them in the correct box on your data table.). Once everyone is finished in the lab, learn how to use colored pencils and rulers to estimate the % sugar of each of the 5 beverages and write the % sugars in your Data Table in your Workbook. Homework: Complete the E-11 Boyle’s Law Prelab (GUIDELINESFORLABREPORT-08/E-11-14 lsh)(due Tues). Complete the 1st Quarter Review through E-10 (1st Q RS)(due Wed).

Tuesday, October 24th – Meet in B-327. Sit with partner(s) at a computer with syringe attached. Log into the computer and go to Google Classroom. Then, 1: Click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen and open the E-11 Boyle’s Law Data Studio document in new window from Google Classroom. 2: Download the Data Studio document. 3. Double click on the Data Studio document to open it. 4. Follow the E-11 Boyle’s Law Lab Sheet instructions (E-11-14 lsh)(Make sure to do three trials and record your results in your Science Notebook.). IF time, make an Google Sheets graph with your group using these instructions (E-11-17 gi KA), print it, and turn it in (ONE per group). If there is not time, it is individual homework (due no later than next Mon)Homework: Complete the 1st Quarter Review through E-10 (due Wed).

Wednesday, October 25th – Stamp the E-11 Prelabs. Stamp and check the 1st Quarter Review through E-10. Finish marking the 5 beverages on your E-10 calibration curve and writing the % sugars in the E-10 Data Table in your Workbook. Turn in the E-10 Calibration curve. Homework: Review E-1 through 10 and STUDY for the Midpoint Growth Assessment.

Thursday, October 26th – Take the Mid Point Growth Assessment over E-1to 10. Did you finish marking the 5 beverages on your E-10 calibration curve and writing the % sugars in the E-10 Data Table in your Workbook? Did you turn in the E-10 calibration curve? Complete and turn in the E-11 Conclusion and Mind Prober on the back of your group’s graph (If graph is not yet printed, do it on a separate sheet to staple together no later than next Mon). 3:30 – 7 pm Parent Teacher Conferences.

Friday, October 27th – NO SCHOOL. 8: 30 am – Noon Parent Teacher Conferences.
