Chemistry … March 6th – 10th

Hello, students!

Important note: We have just three weeks left until Spring Break … Do you have missing work? Would you like to retake E-27 Atomic Structure I for up to 100% (e-27-15-rem), E-29 Formula Writing and Naming for up to 100% (e-29-15-rem), or E-30 Atomic Structure II for 60% (e-30-15-rem)? If so, complete and check the required remediation sheet and let me know when you are ready!!!

Here is what we are doing in Chemistry this week:

Monday, March 6th – Did you put the Electronegativity Numbers from page 184 in your textbook on your Periodic Table? Did you put the number of covalent bonds and the single bonded shape names on your Periodic Table? Did you put the multiple bonded shape names on your Periodic Table? Did you put the cut offs for polar covalent and ionic bonds on your Periodic Table?  Did you finish the PreReading Activity (We will check it for points today, if time.)? Finish the E-31 Bonding and Structure Notes on the Note Sheet (Molecule Polarity for Single AND Multiple Bonds)(e-31-10-pra/e-31-16-ss/e-31-note-sheet-doc/e-31-fcl). Complete and check the E-31 Continuous Round Table Practice Test with table (fifth and final step). Homework: Complete the E-31 Practice Problems 1-20 ODDS step e on page 42 in Workbook AND Practice Problems 1-8 ALL step e on page 43 in Workbook (due Tues). Complete a Prelab for E-32 Group Properties (GUIDELINESFORLABREPORT-08/e-32-16-ls)(due Tues).

Tuesday, March 7th –  Check and stamp E-31 Practice Problems. Complete and check page 45 in Workbook with partner (the multiple choice section). Watch E- 32 Day 1 demo, if time. Chemistry at Work clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZY6d6jrq-0Discovery Channel clip (Alkali Metals) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsWszIH301s and (Halogens) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfDPVHMIL8c. Wednesday, March 8th –  Take the E-31 Test. Homework: READ the E-33 Periodic Table Study Sheet, begin the Practice Problems 1-7 “odd letters” (i.e. a, c, e …) an 8-14 ALL, and mark anything you would like about what you read on your home made Periodic Table (e-33-16-ss)(due next Wed).

Thursday, March 9th – Get E-32 Prelab stamped. Complete E-32 Day 2 in lab. Homework: READ the E-33 Study Sheet, continue the Practice Problems 1-7 “odd letters” (i.e. a, c, e …) an 8-14 ALL, and mark anything you would like about what you read on your home made Periodic Table (due next Wed).

Friday, March 10th – Complete the E-32 Lab Day 1 Analysis in Workbook. Discuss the steps for equation writing for single replacement reactions involving two metals (E-32-08 qp) using even examples from page 55 in Workbook (E-32-08 qp2). Begin the odds from page 55 in Workbook with partner and turn in.  Homework: READ the E-33 Study Sheet, continue the Practice Problems 1-7 “odd letters” (i.e. a, c, e …) an 8-14 ALL, and mark anything you would like about what you read on your home made Periodic Table (due next Wed).

 Have a great week!!!
