Chemistry … September 19th – 23rd

Hello, students!

Important note: sign up for my Google classroom (codes: Per 1 – hyykpp / Per 2 – o701os / Per 3 – wce30q / Per 4 – e5o8em ! The THREE Optional E-2 Extra Practice Tests will self correct if opened in Google Sheets! There is also a E-2 self grading Practice Quiz!

You have until the end of the 1st Quarter to retake E-1 or E-2. You MUST complete and check a remediation sheet before you can retake! Here are remediation sheets for E-1 Metric System (complete at least one) … E-01 rem / E-01 rem 2.  Here are the remediation sheets for E-2 Significant Figures (complete at least one) …  E-02-13 empp  / E-02-13 apt ! Other options include page 11 in the Workbook (E-02-08 mp) and the Excel Practice Test (E-2 EXCEL PT). You CAN do it! Learning just takes practice!!! 🙂

Here is what we are doing in Chemistry this week:

Monday, September 19th – Review Guidelines for Measuring (GUIDELINESFORMEASURING-15) and E-2 Significant Figures (E-02-15 ss). Complete and check E-3 Data Analysis (with E-2 Significant Figures practice!) per group and TURN IN TODAY !!! Stamp and check the E-4 Data Tables. Have you finished and turned in the E-3 Types of Observations Question, Conclusion, and Mind Prober Worksheet (E-03-15 ls/E-03 wksht)? Have you drawn the labeled Bunsen Burner picture?  Homework:  Write up E-6 Heating and Cooling Curves Prelab (GUIDELINESFORLABREPORT-08/E-06-15 ls)(due Tues). Wear long pants and bring shoes that cover feet for lab tomorrow!!! 

Tuesday, September 20th – Did you remember to wear long pants and bring shoes that cover feet? Get the E-6 Heating and Cooling Curves Prelab stamped. Complete E-6 Day 1. Review Guidelines for Graphing and construct a graph of the E-6 Day 1 Data (GUIDELINESFORGRAPHING-08)(due Wed). Homework: Finish E-6 graph for Day 1 (due Wed).

Wednesday, September 21st –  Review E-3 and 4 Purposes and E-4 Data. Add E-6 Day 2 Sample Data on the SAME GRAPH as the E-6 Day 1 Data (Suggestion: Use a different color pen!). Add Analysis Questions 1-3 to graph (Finish it for Thursday – I will collect on Monday or Tuesday of next week!). Look at Heating Curve on page 487 in black textbook and discuss phase changes. Begin E-6 Analysis 4-7, Critical Thinking Questions 1-3 and 6-8 with partner and turn in. Homework: Make sure E-6 graph is DONE!

Thursday, September 22nd – Discuss and complete E-6 Heating and Cooling Curves Analysis 4 and 5. Finish E-6 Analysis 4-7, Critical Thinking Questions 1-3 and 6-8, and Conclusion with partner and turn in. Homework: Complete E-4to6 Practice Problems on pages 26-28 in Workbook (due next Tues). Complete E-5 Solids on Warming Prelab (due next Tues).  READ E-7 Physical and Chemical Changes in Workbook (AND black textbook pages … 65-79) and complete Practice Problems 1-6 ALL and 7-9 “odd letters” on pages 33-34 in Workbook (due next Wed).

Friday, September 23rd – HALF DAY. Check and turn in the E-3 Types of Observations Question, Conclusion, and Mind Prober Worksheet. Homework: Complete E-4to6 Practice Problems on pages 26-28 in Workbook (due next Tues). Complete E-5 Solids on Warming Prelab (due next Tues).  READ E-7 Physical and Chemical Changes in Workbook (AND black textbook pages … 65-79) and complete Practice Problems 1-6 ALL and 7-9 “odd letters” on pages 33-34 in Workbook (due next Wed).
