Thursday, March 14th – Turn in E-31 Practice Problems page6  1-20 ODDS and page 7 1-8 ALL ALL FIVE steps AND waves problems. Take the E-31 Test INCLUDING a wave problem. Homework: Do E-32 Prelab (due Fri).

Friday, March 15th – Complete E-32 Day 2 in lab. Homework: READ the E-33 Study Sheet, begin the Practice Problems 1-7 “odd letters” (i.e. a, c, e …) an 8-14 ALL from pages 58-59 (E-33-18 ssh) and mark anything you would like about what you read on your home made Periodic Table (due next Wed).

Here is what we are doing in Regular Chemistry this week:

 Monday, March 4thDiscuss E-29 Inorganic Nomenclature Test results and make corrections – complete the E-29 Remediation Sheet if less than 70% (or wanting a retake!)(E-29 rem)(due BY FRIDAY!). Watch The World of Chemistry: Episode #8: Chemical Bonds https://www.learner.org/resources/series61.html# and take 10 good notes on what you learned! 

Tuesday, March 5thGet a blank Periodic Table and fold so that only the Main Group shows. Review the Main Group oxidation number pattern (i.e. for ionic bonding) and learn the valence electron/electron dot pattern and covalent bonding pattern (i.e. covalent bonding) for Main Group elements. First, label these patterns for oxidation numbers, valence electrons, and number covalent bonds on your home made Periodic Table. Next, put in the “Green Stairstep” separating the metals and nonmetals on your home made Periodic Table and label the Nobel Gases.  Then, learn how to do electron dot symbols for atoms. Finally, using a black textbook, read Section 7-1 and complete the 7-1 Review and Reinforcement Worksheet about Ionic Bonding (7-1to 2 R+R Wksht). 

Wednesday, March 6thDid you finish, the 7-1 Review and Reinforcement Worksheet? If not, finish that first. Then, using a black textbook, read Section 7-2 and complete the 7-2 Review and Reinforcement Worksheet about Covalent Bonding SKIPPING questions 16-20! 

Thursday, March 7thDid you finish, the 7-1+2 Review and Reinforcement Worksheets? If not, finish them first. If time, please go through this short tutorial(s) on Ionic Bonding … https://pbslm-contrib.s3.amazonaws.com/WGBH/arct15/SimBucket/Simulations/chemthink-ionicbonding/content/index.html  and on Covalent Bonding … https://pbslm-contrib.s3.amazonaws.com/WGBH/arct15/SimBucket/Simulations/chemthink-covalentbonding/content/index.html . When you finish, label symbols and atomic numbers for all the Main Group elements on your home made Periodic Table.

Friday, March 8th – Get the E-31 note sheet and handouts. Begin the E-31 Notes on the Note Sheet (Electron Dot Structures, Structural Formulas, Shapes, and Bond Polarity for Single Bonds)(E-31 Note Sheet/E-31 FCl/E-31 sc). Did you finish, the 7-1+2 Review and Reinforcement Worksheets? If not, finish them first. Turn the in TODAY!!! Begin E-31 Practice Problems on the Study Sheet page 6 1-20 steps a-d ONLY (E-31 ssr wd). Check and turn in E-29 Remediation Sheet, if required (or chose to do)! Retake E-29 Test, if needed.
